Handphone headaches…

Thursday, January 12th, 2006

Its all terang lagi bersuluh that Ministry of Education is stupid. This is what happens when  bloody politics gets in way with the education. Nh mesti kerja bapak (orang besar) sape2 yg sesuka hati saje  blackmail education ministry for his children benefits.Out of the  blue, suddenly pekeliling came out on the 23 rd of December that students can bring handphones to school provided if follow certain guidelines.
i’ve read all those guidelines n if truth to be said , its total rubbish. Yes, it does benefit teachers but its deteriorating the students. And teachers will have this extra burden to rampas all handphones that doesnt adhere to guidelines. Tambah lagi satu peraturan sekolah.tambah lagi kerja cekgu2

As an ex-prefect,( ececececeh..)handphones is one powerful weapon in diverting students attention from aCademic and become the main CULPRIT of school discipline cases. Let me expess my views in point forms..

1. ENCOURAGING THE STEALING CULTURE. The main headache is, teenagers handphone nowadays is no more yg cikai2 mcm Nokia 3310( model i’m currently using), if there’s no camera, no polyphonic, 3g n all that..jgn haraplah..so expect something that costs nearly thousands of ringgit..okay , Klause 2 clearly states " The school will never be held accountable fo any loss of students handphone" yeah right, try telling that to the parents, c if they understand.. One parent almost threatened to sue the school when his daughter handphone is missing in my school last year(balasan kot…)

2. PSYCHOLOGICAL EFFECT. Everybody has a handphone. Imagine the mounting pressure on students who cannot afford one, can he handle the pressure? its very important for adolescents not to be inferior and consequently it will lead to stealing… tension…depression…. not everyone is like me u know, takde perasaan, takde handphone rilek je.. . .they will also force parents to  buy them one. u call this is good for students?

3.DIVERSION FROM STUDIES.Believe me, handphone is addictive, especially the SMS part( this is a problem on its own   . i’ll get to that one later). Once u start smsing…sampai kol 3 pagi pon boleh tahan…   see? ur mind suddelny messed up with thoughts like " bile nk balas nh??" in the middle of ur homework.coming fom my personal experience, i’ve seen friends who doesnt stop smsing when tomorows actually an exam day.. cakap good luck kot..but then again , the wasted 20 minutes can be transfomed into quality time with Chemistry Text Books Bab  Jadual  Berkala  Unsur right?

4.CHEATING MEDIUM.It happened in my school last year,a respective ,all a’s boarding school..what more ordinary schools.it could happen again right? especially in school based exams where invigalators bukan nyer jaga seriously..

5. OPPOSITE SEX PROBLEM. Calling all parents.. u must like ur children wasting their time borak2 with the opposite sex kan?if  that particular students is already 16 ke 17, its still tolerable but imagine F1 and F2 students practising the act? Masih jagung muda lagi dh diajar..
Unsurprisingly, sex and khalwat cases had rocketed this days..

6. SAFETY HAZARDS. armed with a handphone, pickpockets  now have a reason to stop students in the middle of the road demanding handphones. See? handphones are increasing the  student exposure towards danger. Now we have  to hire bodyguards to school to avoid students from getting hurt or worse…killed.

7.EXPENSIVE. Hooray, thanks to government harsh judgement, kids now find a new revolutionary way in wasting their money. SMS and calls can be highly expensive if used extensively( which is the case for every student?) say, for two weeks , RM 10 for prepaid is burned if the usage is strictly sms, no calls ..nh blom lagi downloads, ringtones and calls. so the least, u spend RM 10×3 per month….hmm…there u go parents, u asked for it, u gooot it!

And these, are only in the perspective of the student, blom lagi teachers and parents. In a nutshell, if weighing down the pro and cons, the cons wil definitely emerge the winner. So, stop this nonsense, in the UK its been already a national problem. If want to execute pon , they must have a trial-time.
whatever it is, i dont get it, although trying to follow the MSC Vision, common sense must take place first. Will someone tell me the basis of the government decision?( i think the whole" terlalu ramai student memiliki handphone" is crap)

Notice how  corny Malay songs have these cheesy lyrics like "  aku putus cinta, hati aku sakit macam dibelah dua" and the sorts? i thought it was just an exaggeration . It truly isnt.
i felt that way exactly this 11.17 in the morning. just scratch that " putus cinta" part and turn it into "putus harapan" and the " hati dibelah dua" transformed into " hati dicincang halus and then diblender jadi paste"

Painstakingly, my dad had booked an appointment with Dr Faridah Mahfuz, the Executive of something-something from Petronas to discuss about my appeal into getting a Petronas oveseas scholarship.
It went well and by the way, it was rejected. She said its already full, sorry ,please try jpa and mara.
Although the young lady was very nice and polite, i cant help feeling being let-down, and as the title suggests, dissappointed.
a large part of me was not crushed bcoz i couldnt get it,
i just thought it was supposed to be pay back time.paying back my parents, paying back my teachers efforts, ….especially my ayah.
theres too much money, time, hope and expectations being invested on me up to the point it scares me out.

thank -God ,My ever philosophical dad gave me the most comforting words,,

" if u ever not getting anything that u really wanted , God has its own reasons.I can give u two of them, 1, there’s something better waiting for you 2. to avoid you from misfortunes"

she even asked me " knape nak sgt petronas nih?" .well miss, by any chance, if ure given a golden oppetunity to nail it, would you ever let go?
this is what i’m doing. I’m not letting go.
so , to let them all down just like that was a tremendous blow. And a HUGE one.

that is when i cried.

The Chronicles of a Writer’s Block

Monday, January 9th, 2006

Now i know how does it feels. Now i uderstand why writers raound the world would rather die than being stuck in a phase called  Writer’s Block.

The usual productive 4 piece a day with mind-boggling vocabularies had suddenly ran out.
My head has tranformed albeit temporarily( i hope) into an empty litter bin.
Try shouting into my thinking cap, it’ll echo, echoo, echoooo…..
Bare. Hollow. Empty. Nada

Moving on to the definition, according to DICTIONARY, i dunno what dictionary it just states that,

"a  usually temporary phsychologicaal inability to continue to begin or continue work on a piece of writing"

According to WORDNET

the inability to write, the "words wouldnt come"

accoRding to WIKIPEDIA lak.."a psychological and social condition in which writer temporarily loses ability to continue writing, wether through losing inspiration or confidence in his or her creativity "

see how bosan this piece is? cerita pasal takrifan lakk..
how long is this going to last?.. sigh*
anyway, slamat raya haji

amal VS bakti+ehsan+iman+jujur

Saturday, January 7th, 2006

i guess its just went down to tradition. the all- time hidden rivalry between the best class in school and the-not-so-best classes.
i’d  like to call it as Cold War II , as it is discrete, unspoken, body-languange oriented and expressed verbally only when among 2 or 3 groups of people. but the heat is there, how good it is hidden.
unconciously, teachers actually add to the spark, always  labour praises towards amal. even constantly  promoting amal to other clasess,( read: " cuba tengok budak amal tu…") much to their irritation and ultimately elevating amal up to the ultra-superior level.
the interesting part is, amalians didnt ask for the war, it just somewhat happens. nobody pulled the trigger, it just shoots itself. call it the "amal syndrome"

true, some of the amalians actions is not to b desired by not -so brilliant -students.
i’ve been there.the class is a tad too…..quite.silent.dull.unexciting.
one english teacher even called our class in frustration as unresponsive. silence means a "yes" or if lucky, a mere nod and a " no" is a jumble between squinting our eyes and confused expressions.
but then again, amrol qays is always there to save the day fom total silence.
talking with boys is non -existent, even if there is, mayb sbab mintak paper or something, but to have a casual, non-obligatory chit-chat, dream on. we, amalians prefer to sms.( read again: hatta-pah, dino-sumer laki, sal-rahim, mai -zol, azim-fizah, peon-sumer pompuan)
And this had been their recipe for continuing success, theyre more focused, attention is strictly academic, less interruptions and always get the work done b4 habis prep malam( mostly due to peer pressure).

as an ex-bakti also, i can make a comparison between these two classes. the difference is evident.i kindof redeemed my social life outside text books.
i never thought that school will b fun, i got it back in bakti, b4 this i thought jokes are unallowed towards teachers, and i could never imagine there will exist a time where guys can talk to girls without the awkwardness, just plain friends…BUT it comes along with its own drawbacks..
theres too much jokes untill lessons r interrupted, procrastination is tolerable, being me the pesident
and getting a C is completely normal..which  on the contrary  means its-the-end-of-my -life back in amal.

either way, even though other classes would just love to wipe the smart-boy-smirk on amalians faces , we couldnt help but admit the unpleasant truth, if it works fo them then theres nothing we could do.theyre happy that way, get it?
i myself, although missing terribly all the fun, i cant imagine what would i be if im not in amal,. tauke sim card kot..

at least amal and bakti and iman and ehsan and jujur have one thing in common.
We all sleep in class.

Edufair convention centre KLCC

Saturday, January 7th, 2006

i envy chinese.they’re smart, loaded and langsong tak malu…when it comes to education.
i came across this thought when i visited the education fair in KLCC recently.
no 1–it was swarming with chinese. *Gasps*
no 2–theres no SEMASHUR’s student AT ALL.* Double gasps"

okay, mayb part of the reason is sumer org balik kampong raya haji, but face it, chinese has always been one, some even three steps ahead of us since.. what? 1932?

anyway, its worth my painful legs provided if u ASK AROUND.
if u just browse here and there collecting free paper bags and mechanical pens.

the key is to ask every booth " ADA OFFER SCHOLASHIP TAK?"
u’ll b surprised that most of them will give u a "yes" answer if meet certain criteria.

i even get a free 5 day RM 250 computer course which covers pogramming, web design, networking, and LINUX just by showing my forecast results! if…and only if u ASK.
one stamford college advisor even map out my carreer..
if u dont know which course u’ gonna take, just tell them what u’ r interested in
like this for example " i want to do something that has something to do with computer but i would like to venture  business also, i want to have both technical and management background, how can i achieve that?’
before u know it, u’ll already engrossed in long lectures about ur options…

so GO NOW!
tomorows the last day.(SUNDAY)

In need of Mandarin all of a sudden?

Saturday, January 7th, 2006

Unfair, Racist,What is this nonsense?- screamed me , my sister , my sister ’s friend and god knows how many other malay job hunters in the country.

Naturally i was looking for a job in KLCC and avenue K and i was despirited. L&G, Note my choice of word,
" despirited".
Main culprits is the ‘penjaga kedai’ itself,

" Part time dah full, full time boleh?". This i can stand
" Lepasan sekolah bahaya la..2 bulan mesti lari,  kami nak at least 6 bulan" .I can stand this also
" ………….( memberi borang dan terus simpan dalam laci bila dah isi). Fair enough
" Oh , nh utk cawangan damansara and times square, sini full.." Right…
" we want yg boleh ckp mandarin.." this one crosses my patience line.
i was thinking seriously about lying.

whats more frustrating, upon surfing  jobstreet.com , ads  with" Ability to speak manadarin an advantage" really irks me up,which is like in about HALF of the ads??
Ada apa dengan MANDARIN?
habis tinggal dedebu jelah bahasa melayu nh..
Everybody understands bm right? and theres always englissh..what is the need for mandarin?
Even chinese tourists had dropped by half this year( refer to NST today) compared to 2005.

my mom gives a more practical approach to explain this abnormal phenomenon
" alah.. dier nak cine la tuh.. die kater jerh nk yg reti mandarin.."
i ‘m seriously considering this is true.

boons and banes of PKN: An author’s story

Saturday, January 7th, 2006

i sat next to a PLKN-girl bound  for Kem Paya Indah Kuala Langat from Kuching.
Her name was Ping Pei/Pey.Very friendly. The whole MS2515 flight was filled with students(SPM leavers) bound for PKN
She asked wether her Kem was near to KL. I said no, no ,..its more nearer to rivers..but u have pekans of course..
Nearly 80% of her questions is about KL. whats the difference, what do we eat, what languange should she speak( she ’s not good in bahasa melayu)
i tell her the truth of course…, traffic jams, toll, and nasi lemak all day long.
I can sense she’s very enthusiastic. some of her friends were first time flyers, they read safety pamphlets from cover to cover, gave full attention to safety demo by stewards and i even noticed some of them kept extra plastic bag( read;air sickness) in their hand-luggages just in case
this is a story of a sarawikian going to semenanjung.
i wonder whats the other side story.
kl folks going to sarawak? God Bless Your Soul

Btw, upon arriving i looked a lot like i was part of the PKN group( i travel without my family u c..).  Apart fom the occasianal questions of  " Dapat kem Paya Indah ke Kuala Kubu Bharu?"
i was even asked to line up by an askar  " Dik, dik nak pegi maner nh, PKN semua beratur sini.."
" oh ,saya bukan PKN", much to my amusement which drew
Laughter from the WHOLE 3.5 metre line..
sorry soldier!

well, my very good friend maisarah has just came back fom her stint for her hari raya aidiladhha break
"  berehat setelah penat berkhidmat kepada negara ", as she would put it.
i just hoped she eats a lot b4 going back to marching regime.

any more stories bout PKN, please share…

crazy frog swept the world

Thursday, January 5th, 2006

some swear it is the most annoying creature ever created on earth.
crazy frog with bulbous eyes, 70’s airplane helmets(unfastened, complete with oversized goggles) and the trademak " ding ding" has strike a revolutionary( and gold, along the way) in what we define as "cute" these days.

ugly( check out the lips),grey and screeching voice, i dont understand how the song bcome the most downloaded song in internet and for ringtones fo 2005.tak faham btol la! adik aku pon beli cassete nyer..dgr rasser pening kepala..

well, ade jugak yg ask me, " apelah bagoss sangat dgn jem tuh…"
that i cant answer..i simply love her.
so , crazy fog fans out there, tell me why u like it?

piece inspired by Computimes

full house

Thursday, January 5th, 2006

trust me. its not about crying every 10 minutes. laughter is more like it

after succesful story of a bright girl, i’ve yet 2 find a korean drama series that matches it. copy cats are abundant untill one evening i came across full house. i tell u, this one is original.
add that to rain’s cooey eyes and infectious smile, its a complete comedy-romance-drama package.
the best part is, there’s no Real VILLAIN!! cool huh,?
Not a Bi Rain fan? No worries ! theres always Song Hye Kyo serene innocence and brooding abg Min Hyuk good looks 2 look forward 2..( see? see? the Other Guy is more handsome than the hero, now where can u get that!)

Coming 2 my favourite part… soundtracks are all awesome! Personal favourite is Forever by Why and  Gom Se Ma Ri( The Thee Bears), yup u just heard right.

in other perspective, this is one drama  that u wont feel squeamish (or in b.m "geli geleman")when watching with strict, conservative parents.theres no obscene scenes , not even hugging scenes and only two kissing scenes which is highly significant and relevant to the storyline and not just saje2 jerh nk buboh.. so rated U la( sesuai utk ditonton untuk semua lapisan masyarakat

all in all , the director did an excellent job in making a comedy that does not overshadow the romantic part…characters are original, they dont look fake .kudos to Bi Rain as a first time actor , he did pretty good being an obsessed house-cleaner..brilliant punch lines and one-liners

need a feel good show? this one will never dissappoint.
any comments, please do leave some…
