mediocre malaysia

Inspired by the live malaysia-myteam match in Bukit Jalil, i made up a new Mnemonic.
The 5P.
Stands for "Poor Preparation Produce Pathetic Performance".
Fresh from the adrenaline rush by watching the game live in the stadium itself, i summed up that myteam well reflects my 5P.
Blunt in attacking,no sense of direction, unfit,a heavy goalkeeper, erroneous passes.Malaysia have no excuse of not thrashing them at least 4-0.
Understandable enough. Dubbed as " mee segera" by the FAM president, they fit the label very well.
This is a team who was formed about a month in a half ago, had no experience in handling both big matches and shrieking crowds, loses most of their friendly matches and to make things worse, theyre guided by non-other the publicity mad , Serbegeth Singh.
(His coaching credentials includes only training a primary school football team.)

Obviously, i’m not his ardent fan.His arrogance had ticked my major nerve evident from his scathing talks and statements.

Those who supports myteam  wears blue while malaysian supporters were asked to wear yellow.
Supporting neither of them, i wore red instead( baju PRS)
Funnily, my heart reached out to myteam. I secretly hoped that they can hang on and defend their territory well from slew of malaysia’s stinging attacks.( myteam never looked like having a striker).Besides, they have the backing of their 50,000 fans chanting " myteam, myteam, myteam".

The noise was deafening, i can assure you.

And i also thought that very noise somewhat had distracted myteam’s focus.Imagine whenever a myteam member had the ball on their feet, the ear-splitting roar in the ampitheatre can certainly  make an inexperienced player go rigid.

Despite the lacksture performance, they had their own share of sterling moments as well. The beautiful first goal was one, and the defence wall undampening spirit was another.Credit given to their searing runs and bravado tackles.Towards the end of the game, they almost scored an equaliser  (at this point, i thought my heat skipped a beat) apart from unlucky near misses.Hm.Losing 2-1 sounds not too bad.

Which is the other way around with the malaysian squad.Another 3 goals should have been netted since they controlled the pace and the flow of the game.Boasting talents like K. Nanthakumar and Khaironisam Rosli, they never rise to my expectations , never worthy of the rave reviews given to them since their  2-0 winning over  Man U Academy. I say they are not ready yet to reign the Asian Junior Championship title.Losing the ball too much, they’re not creative in creating  space for themselves.Perhaps the sending off of their prolific striker( you can never get away this time, main sepak2 orang lagi), Muhammad Zakuan Adha( ke adik die?) contributes to their mindless forward moves but the cliche goes, football is never a one man match.Alamak hanani. So passe’.

At this stage, the malaysian under 20 cannot afford making mistakes or blaming the crowd distraction anymore. They should overcome stage fright by now since the Asian Junior’s is beckoning. They’ll meet full-house stadium with more hostile crowds like in Indonesia and Myanmar.
K. Rajagopal definitely has a lot of work to do after tonight.

Kudos to malaysia anyway, for sparing FAM the embarassment.
And to myteam, i suggest a re-match.

" Believe in Possibilities"
" Yakin pada Kemungkinan"

P’s: The next Mokhtar Dahari is still ever elusive.

after all, malaysians do really care about the country’s future in football. we do have what it takes to have a strong team. but, we need to harvest and utilize only high quality yet passionate players regardless of where they’re from and whether their ‘kabel’ is strong enough. FAM must start to learn about what modern football is all about - fun, beautiful, dramatic and systematic. but one thing for sure, malaysia’s football scene might be better if the politicians stay in the parliament house - not the field.
