teacher’s day greetings
Pardon me if i’m starting to sound nostalgic but its that time again of the year.
Where suddely ad-hoc business ventures springs up from everywhere around the school providing chocolate and roses requests, song dedication services, at not exactly what i call a small fee.
It still stike me as very amusing teachers getting identical things( from request services) with the handwritten manila greeting card being the only way of differentiation.
Subject of blaming should not be pointed to us, naive, innocent students because precisely, thats what we are, naive and innocent.( *gagging sounds from a distance*)
Noteworthy reminded though, the heart of all commercial hype are strongly spurned by many other heartening things.
Apreciation. Gratitude.Love.
In layman’s term, we just want to say thank you.Full stop.
In any accessible manner that we can come up with, wether its going to cost a bomb in our pocket, wether it forces us to burn the midnight oil ,wether its going to drain every energy left in our body, even turning into deceit and sapped all the creative juices we can think of,we’ do anything, anything to make sure our teachers are heroes of the day.
Or at least make them feel like heroes.
Which is kinda endearing .
Thank you’s itself is subjective. One sense of thankfullnes( is there such a word?) to your Sir’s , Mrs’, cikgu, mentor or anything you call them is highly dependant on how much one owe them in any way imaginable.A teacher who’s prolific, who changes people, who creates wave of difference is the most celebrated and mostly remembered.
I consider myself very lucky having to encounter and cherish meaningful moments with one of them We call her Cikgu Maimoon. She always joked that back in he university days her matric card was spelt as " My-moon".The rarest species possible that i still cannot find anyone near as such anymore.Period.
She stamped her impact on me and many other in a more personal way.
She’s the one when she talks, energy of pride and motivation oozes around the hall.
She recognises potential immediately and effectively move students to greater heights, chase higher dreams.
She had her own way showing authority, when she says dont do this, people will obligingly obey, not out of fear but somehow everything she says makes sense.
She’s such a huge inspiration that when she changes house team, her former team( Rumah Biru) loses after being champion 7 times in a row.And surprise, surprise, her new team emerged as the deserving champions.
She’s the living spirit of Sekolah Kebangsaan Taman Permata and by the time she got transfered, dark gloom that reverbrate throughout the whole school can be evidently noticed.Even the principal announced " It was a dark day for us in the history of this school…" with her head hung hown.
In much simpler words, she moulded us into who we are today.
She approaches students, not the other way around, unsuspecting as we are, as if someones breaking in into your life and start repairing things thats imperfect anywhere she could scourge and find.Etched in my memory is her big red letters written " LALAI !!" even if i get 39/40 in maths. I dont mind, thats soo like her, she insists on improving , never she asked us to stop and be satisfied. "Aim for 40/40", she says.
We want to be better, more improved person when she’s around.
i terribly missed her.
Her connection to students are timeless,up to the extent that we, as ex students will come to visit her every Hari Raya without fail.
And she would welcomed us with her trademark mee jawa.
She never, never forgets. She made sure that she’s updated on her students progress, say SPM preparations, even though i have left school for 5 years. A living proof of lifetime learning.
oh god, i missed her a lot.
Special mention dedicated to Cikgu Norzalina Mohammed who constantly pushing me untill i can get an A in maths, Ust Wan Azarimy whom lectures and stories are as funny as ever, Cikgu Norfadhilah who made my science days enlighting.I owe you everything i have now.
Ok, i’ m lapsing into those-were-the-days mode but how can i forget tireless wardens, Cikgu Masita whom her championing puteri SEMASHUR efforts and determination of making ASPURI a better place is legendary.
The cool and collected Cikgu Roslynda, whom level of patience when handling troublemakers are something i highly admire. Please forgive our recklessness and stupidity back then.
Teacher Salmi, down-to-earth and nervy as she is,she still possess a soft side that touches people. She’s the one who make things work.
Not to forget the veteran and longest-standing warden, Ustazah Zaharah ,whom tough and reasonable approach when handling students welfare
( which is quite a handful) had gave her a reputation that she’s not easily fooled. You can never escape ,she knows everything.
Juggling between taking care of their own family and at least another 250 students is definitely no easy job. They deserve every credit that they can get in keeping ASPURI a comfortable, harmonious enclave that students can seek haven and solace.
oh, bloody hell. i remembered the sirens. The ever irritating, annoying , excruciating, prolonged sirens.
I would like to heap my greatest praise and gratitude towards my Cikgu Indera whom transform my add maths nightmare into something i can be really proud of.Cikgu Nik Sri Rahayu, how many times people are fooled by her small, demure, three foot height when beneath that cute figure prevails a firm, booming ,and energetic character. Physics had never been much more clearer than before when she starts dominating the whiteboard.
The popular Miss Yap,with her precise, meticulous, speedy and direct approach effectively lessened my biology headaches. Oh, her fashion sense is noteworthy too( *winks).
Once, we always place a bet among my girlfriends on who can accurately predict what blouse will she match with her skirt for the day.We even conspire on which retailer did she purchases her wardrobe, albeit at the back of the class, in whispers.
It will be a shameful disgrace to not mentioning miss Zilfadhilah Hasni ,the Beyonce lookalike, well, at least that’s the only person we can associate her with regard of her vogue vibes.
There’s only two person in this world who s capable of making me laugh out loud shamelessly. farhana roslan and her.English classes are something we all look forward to.No surprises there.
Cikgu Siti Aisyah( bm), Cikgu Rosliza( bio), Encik Sazaly( science), Ustazah’s( theres too many of them) ,Cikgu Wan Joe( history),Cikgu Yahaya Mamat( maths), Cikgu Sazlina,Ustaz Fauzi ,CIkgu Zawawi, Cikgu Baharuddin,Cg Masodiah, teacher Mardiana,Cikgu Rafidah, Cikgu Haslina,Ustaz Yazid, Cg Nizam and many, many more of these enchanting, dedicated group of wonderful people ( if i would even try and dare to list down , it will fill up the whole page,) whom all helped me achieve academic excellence.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR TREMENDOUS WILL AND DRIVE TO EVEN TRY GETTING IN ANY SENSE INTO MY STUBBORN HEAD.
If i have wronged you for the past seventeen years and eleven months of my life, only forgiveness that i can pledge from afar.
ok, i can belanja la, but call first.
HAPPY TEACHERS DAY!

cikgu maimon..i never felt she had taught me maths..suffice to say, she only taught me to give my very best in everything i do and at the same time keep reasons and considerations close to my heart..
“izham, apsal markah matematik awak teruk?”
“saya memang malas ar cikgu”
piap!..a cane replied..and a blazing motherly stare came across the face of her in which a 12 year old lad could easily decipher - a feeling where anger intermingled with hope and expectation were in her eyes…since that, i never talk back or give any sense of disrespect to anyone called teacher..i never want to see the stare again in my life..viva la maimon.
